Recognising this, SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of the State Bank of India group, launched the SBI Youth for India Fellowship (SBI YFI) programme, dedicated to empowering rural communities nationwide. vms
The Fellows: Champions of Change
The SBI Youth For India Fellows, who leave their easy-going life and well-paying jobs,. have been at the forefront of bringing positive change through their meaningful interventions in rural development. Among these volunteers was Pratibha Krishnaiah, a passionate young Social Entrepreneur who left her high-paying corporate job to bring confidence and positive change in the lives of women of Champawat, Uttarakhand, through Himalayan Blooms.
Addressing Challenges with Innovation
Streamlining the application process became a priority as the YFI Fellowship program gained popularity among youth passionate about social change. Using Platform Common’s Better Together (VMS platform). leveraged features, such as Automatic Eligibility Checks and Plagiarism Checker, coupled with other features. This helped the SBI YFI team ease the selection process for the Fellowship.
- Over 40,000 applicants managed over just a period of 2 months with improved accessibility and efficiency.
- An 18% increase in applications demonstrated the success of technology-driven recruitment.
- Application review time was cut in half, leading to faster selections.
- Collaborative recruitment and workflow-based selection ensured a balanced workload among recruiters.
While numbers are impressive, the true impact of the SBI YFI Fellowship program lies in the transformed lives of underserved communities. It has significantly impacted many thematic areas in collaboration with reputed grassroots Partner NGOs. 500+ Alumni from the Fellowship have been beacons of hope for India’s development story through their continuous contributions to the development sector.
